We were also joined by Mary "Medicare Paster" Davison, a retired pastor and grandmother of ten who began long-distance backpacking at age 60 and completed her Triple Crown (the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail) 16 years later. on staying safe, found, comfortable, healthy, and sane on your journey as an older hiker.

Go at a slower pace, take more breaks
Hike shorter distances
Hike Your Own Hike (HYOH) with good companions
Morph from multiday backpacking to day hiking
Less weight. Less distance.
Better shoes and trekking poles!
Balance exercise every day helps fall prevention
Hiking with the Codgers has a great YouTube channel and they review gear--they hiked most of the PCT last year.
Travelinbeat and Goob's Adventures are good channels for gear info. They have done the Triple Crown.
